 “THE STAND-ALONE EAGLE”

 

     Once upon a time in a forest there lived a variety of animals that lived side by side and looked for food to be able to survive. The animals were divided into two, there were those who lived in groups but those who lived alone.

     In that forest there is an eagle. This eagle lives alone. He is looking for food alone and survive alone. He is different from other animals that live together with his group. This eagle lives in an old tree beside the lake. He spends his days alone without his friend also looking for food by himself. Sometimes he feels lonely and thinks why he lives alone without friends. When he feels lonely, he always flies to a beautiful place to get rid of his loneliness. He also felt sad, but he also still feels proud of himself because he is able to survive even if alone.By living alone he can improve the abilities he has and become more mature. He is also known as a formidable animal and also quite feared by other animals because he is able to dropping his prey with his very sharp claws. No one dared to become his friends. That's why he always lives alone without friends.

     One afternoon, the eagle was sitting in his old tree. He looked at his shadow on the lake. He said in his heart "what it feels like ... living together with friends. Then how does it feel to look for food together,how does it feel to work together to fight other animals that bother our friends?” said the eagle sadly. Shortly afterwards, came a group of herons. They came to drink in the lake. After finishing drinking, the heron accidentally saw an eagle who was dwelling in a tree. A heron said" Pooreagle! he is alone not like us who are always together. Surely he always feels lonely right?” he asked the other heron mockingly.Another heron answered "His life is really sad. He is not like us who are always together” Before the heron left the lake, they approached the eagle. Arriving under the old tree, a heronscreamed out and said "Hi eagle! I am sad to see you. You must feel lonely right? You definitely want to live like us. Poor you!” then, another heron said, "Why we do have to be friends with the eagle? He is a scary animal. His life is very sad. He is always alone”. The heron continues mocking the eagle. They keep saying that the life of the eagle is very sad.

     Hearing the heron's teasing, the eagle did not speak a word. He was just silent and looked sad. Unable to hear all the words of the heron, the eagle flew and left the heron. The eagle flies and goes to see the lives of other animals in the forest. He saw a group of monkeys, a group of deer and other animals that also lived in groups. The eagle saw them living happily and playing with each other with their group friends. After tired of going around, the eagle back to his old tree to rest because the night had arrived.

     The next day, the eagle saw a heron sitting while crying under a tree. The eagle wondered why he was alone, even though the heron are always together in searching for food with his group. The eagle approached a crying heron, thenasked "Hey, why are you alone under this tree? Where are all your friends?”. The heron was shocked then ran for fear of the eagle, but the eagle kept chasing him. Until the heron stumbled by the roots of the tree. The eagle said, "Don't be afraid heron! I will not bother and devour you. I just want to ask you, Why were you crying alone under a tree? Where are all your friends?”the heron bowed sadly and said "I feel sad, They eat their prey without sharing it for me. Even though I am very hungry and they only eat it themselves. That's why I was sad and left them.”. The eagle asked " Why don't you look it for yourself? “. And the heron answered while looking down "I don't know how to hunt fish. I used to live depending on my group" then the eagle realized "Ohh...Now I understand, that living together with others is fun but sometimes there are things that make you thinking that living alone is far more pleasant.” The heron also asked "Why is it like that? “ The eagle answered" becausei experienced it. I do look lonely and sad. I am very happy to live alone even though sometimes I feel lonely. But if you can get used to living alone, you will enjoy it. By living alone, i can face my own problems and thatcan improve my ability to survive.” The heron said " Well, it turns out that living alone is not what I imagined. I thought you would always feel sad and lonely without friends. There are many advantages too, by living alone we can learn many things and can also face our own problems. " The eagle then said again "But heron, I also want to say, that living alone is allowed but selfishness is not allowed. You can find your own food but you must not to be stingy with your friends. You also have to share it with others who need it. We also have to help each other so that we can overcome all problems and obstacles. You do have to be independent, but you cannot stay away from your other friends. Because you will surely be lonely without your friends.“The heron said regretfully, "Eagle, I want to apologize to you, I once hurt your feelings. My friends and i bothered you and laughed at you. ”the eagle also answered "It's okay, I have forgiven you. But, would you like to be my friend?" The heron answered, "Sure, why not? I must be happy to be friends with you."

     Since that day, the eagle and the heron become friends. The eagle not feels lonely again. The heron also realized that in life, we should live independently and not always depend on others in joy and sorrow. Needing help from others is absolutely something that cannot be avoided, but as long as we are able to still deal with it, it would be good for us to try to face it by ourselves.
